Cook Children's joins U.S. Network of Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis Centers
The Neurology department at the Jane and John Justin Institute for Mind Health at Cook Children’s has become an affiliate member of the U.S. Network of Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis Centers. This collaboration will significantly benefit children with pediatric-onset multiple sclerosis and other acquired demyelinating disorders.
As an affiliate member, Cook Children's will:
- Access national collaborative efforts: This includes participation in scientific working groups focused on clinical research, disease mechanisms and treatment outcomes.
- Contribute to multicenter studies: The department can now engage in peer-reviewed manuscripts and grant-funded projects with other institutions.
- Support education and patient advocacy: Involvement in education and outreach subcommittees will help advance provider education and patient advocacy within the pediatric neuroimmunology community.
This partnership is expected to enhance clinical insights, promote standardized practices and expand access to emerging research and quality improvement initiatives in the field of pediatric neuroimmunology. Alfred Balasa, M.D., and Adrian Lacy, M.D., are leading neuroimmunology efforts within the clinic.
