5-year strategic expansion of neuroscience research with three more teams

News and Announcements | February 4, 2025 | Cook Children's Neurosciences Research Center

The Neurosciences Research Center proudly announces its expansion with three more teams focusing on epilepsy, movement disorders and stroke, as well as behavior disorders and autism. The program's expansion is generously supported by Cook Children's Health Care System as part of the 5-year strategic plan of neurosciences research for 2025-2030. The expansion will enhance research productivity by recruiting established researchers at director-level, postdoctoral research fellows and support staff. These researchers will work closely with the physicians of the Jane and John Justin Institute for Mind Health in order to expedite the discovery of scientific findings that improve morbidity and mortality associated with a variety of neurological disorders. The program's expansion will help further distinguish Cook Children's at a national and international level in several specialties. As part of this expansion, Dr. Papadelis was promoted to Assistant Vice President in order to oversee these new teams as well as existing personnel.

Great outcomes begin with great input. Having a medical system where every department, doctor, and care team member works together means that your child can have quick access to testing, diagnosis and treatment, and that means better outcomes now and in the future.
